A big move is coming up. We are heading back to Denmark after almost 6 years in New Zealand. I am looking so much forward to it. I will be working in a fantastic workshop next to some very talented people, check it out here . In September I am exhibiting with some of the finest in Danish glass at Bredgade Kunsthandel , a fantastic way to come back home.

It has been 9 months of living in an earthquake zone, so many big and small earthquakes all the time and though my house and family have coped remarkably well and all damage to the closest to me can be repaired, it has been a time full of stress and waiting and the full repertoire of emotions, has been out at play in extreme form. I haven't worked most of this time, it simply does not work, to put a kiln on with shakes and power cuts. So even if the move has not been planned because of earthquakes (lots of people are leaving because of them), I am keen to get to a place where the ground is still enough for creating.

The last days before we go I am clearing out, packing up and letting go of as much glass from hidden boxes, as possible. So any time this weekend and Monday till Wednesday before 15:00 or after 18:30 there will be sales from the workshop at 2A St. Vincent Terrace, Cashmere - and the glass will start at $5 for little things up to $500 for the biggest, so something for everyone! Tests, samples, oldies and new. Stop by if you are in Christchurch!

On a visit to Auckland and their Art Gallery recently, I wasn't allowed to take pictures from the exhibitions inside, but they are building a big new extension and the roof at the entrance was a good alternative photo opportunity. Beautiful wood, reminds me of boats and sails.

Three pictures, no less can do it - I am over excited about these little bowls. I want to make more and more and more. They are everything I want to achieve as a glass maker with a background and not so secret lust for ceramic*. They have that rustic feel that I like in ceramic, but still the glass qualities.

*if having to choose, I will almost always pick the ceramic exhibition over a glass exhibition :-s

This is the storm I have been brewing up. It is obviously a thunder storm.

They fit tea candles and they come in a calmer white version for the blue sky days too.

Did I mention the scatterbrain syndrome, I suffer from? This might look like another symptom. Yesterday I finally pulled out all the mis-casts of glass, castings that have in one way or another gone wrong, sketches, kiln misfiring etc. and I took all 50+ kg to a big industrial sandblasting facility, where they very kindly and for a small fee, let me blast all the surface clean so I can re-use the glass in new castings. This one above is not a castaway, it is a sketch moving forward from these and though I like where it is going, it wasn't perfect and there is just too much good glass in that, to not use. The sketch lives on in digital life, tomorrow I am remelting all the good reclaimed glass.

I am brewing up a storm... more to come
